I love my friends, so as my family and I began our move across the country this week, I couldn’t help but think about my friends and the value they have in my life. It might not have been a stylish goodbye, but my girlfriends and I toasted my departure in our own unique way, with lively conversation, a few tears, and a lot of laughs. While everyone may be different, the occasional girls’ night is essential to my overall happiness.
Sometimes the best way to blow off steam is to get out of the house and make meaningful connections with a good old-fashioned girls’ night. There are so many fun things you and your friends can experience together, so don’t resort to doing anything boring.
Why not break the mold and try something new for your next girls’ night?
1. Take a class.
Spice things up by enrolling in a cooking class. Bond over homemade sushi, learn the secrets to cake decorating, or simply enjoy sampling your girlfriends’ creations.
2. Learn a new game.
Whether it be poker, board games, or team games, you can find all kinds of game night ideas online. Learning something new with your girlfriends is both fun and rewarding. For example, my girlfriends and I recently had a blast hosting a Bunko night. Even though we had virtually no idea what we were doing, everyone had a great time and we all learned something new.
3. Have a theme night
My girlfriends and I used to have an “ugly sweater” night where we would wear the most hideous sweaters we could find and then cast votes for one winner. It might sound cheesy, but searching for wacky outfits together for your theme night is super fun. Themes promote self-expression, creativity, and individuality. The possibilities are endless, so let your creative juices flow and host a theme night for you and your friends.
Forging and maintaining healthy relationships is a vital part of life. By exploring new and fun things to do with your girlfriends, you will create lasting memories, nurture existing bonds, and might even become closer to the people you love the most.
